All in all, the answer to the question of whether credit repair works is very much a typical, “Yes, but…” Yes, credit repair can work to remove certain negative items from your credit reports. But it doesn’t work for every type of item — and it definitely isn’t an instantaneous, magic credit score booster.
Essentially, credit repair is the process of disputing items on your credit report that are an unfair or inaccurate representation of your financial history. Disputing inaccurate items on your credit report is a legal right granted to you by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), which protects your right to fair and accurate credit reports.While disputes once needed to be submitted in writing through the mail, even the credit bureaus have modernized to the point where you can file most disputes online through the bureau’s website.
